How should you study for the Praxis?
ETS’s own tips are short. These come from its strategies page and from the Core Reading Study Companion:
- Choose a test date that gives you enough time to review everything, so you aren’t cramming at the end.
- Write a study plan. ETS publishes a study plan worksheet for this.
- Take regular breaks. ETS says long sessions without them can be counterproductive.
- Use practice tests and sample questions to find what you’re strong and weak at, then spend your time on the weak parts.
- Take the free Interactive Practice Test that comes with your registration. It’s timed like the real test and shows your results by content category.
Studying for a Subject Assessment too?
The planner follows Core’s three tests. For a Subject Assessment, take its content categories from the test’s Study Companion and give the most days to the biggest categories you’re unsure of. Our subject pages list the categories for the main tests.
