The Praxis paraprofessional test: ParaPro and ParaPathways

ETS’s Praxis paraprofessional test is the ParaPro Assessment (1755): 90 multiple-choice questions on reading, math and writing in 150 minutes, for $85. ETS calls it a general aptitude test for prospective and practicing paraprofessionals, required for certification in many states. It also now sells ParaPathways (5757), in two parts.

What’s on the Praxis paraprofessional test?

Reading, math and writing get 30 questions each. About two-thirds of each group test basic skills and knowledge, and about one-third ask you to apply them in a classroom.

ParaPro is scored from 420 to 480, not the 100-200 scale of other Praxis tests. In ETS’s 2025-2026 score guide the median was 468, and the middle half of test takers scored 459 to 474. Your state or district sets the passing score.

ParaPathways

ParaPathways (5757) costs $75, or $37.50 for each part: Reading and Writing (5758) and Mathematics (5759). It’s scored from 310 to 350, and ETS had no score data yet because it’s new. ETS doesn’t say whether it will replace ParaPro.

If you score within one standard error of your state’s passing score, ETS’s ParaPathways Bridge lets you finish a $29.50 module instead of retesting, in Connecticut, Idaho, Minnesota, North Dakota, Nevada, South Dakota, Virginia and Washington. Missouri’s ParaPathways scores are on our Missouri page.

Where to take it, and retakes

ParaPro has its own ETS site. Its test page lists Prometric test centers, other participating centers, testing at home and participating school districts.

ETS’s Free After 3 page says free retakes don’t apply to ParaPro or ParaPathways.
