The GPA flexibility rule
New Jersey wants a GPA of at least 3.00 (2.75 if you graduated before September 1, 2016). With a GPA of 2.75 to 2.99 you can still qualify if your Praxis score is 10% above the passing score; with 3.50 or higher, a score 5% below it is accepted. For Art: Content Knowledge (5134), that’s 158 to pass, 174 at +10% and 150 at -5%, per the department’s table.
Basic skills for the limited certificates
Where basic skills still apply, the department lists 156 in Core Reading, 162 in Writing and 150 in Math. The 2024 law that ended the general requirement is A1669/P.L.2024, c.26.
